MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – June 10 1y4i2r
Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets 6xn1d
First Pitch – 7:10 pm EST
Citi Field – Queens, NY
Broadcast – MLB TV
In the top of the first, we’ll see Griffin Canning on the bump. His 2.90 ERA is the highest of the four starting pitchers that we’re targeting on Tuesday. That’s already a good sign, but so is his last outing. He is fresh off having tossed 6.0 scoreless innings against the Dodgers. This Nationals lineup shouldn’t be as hard for him to walk through. They have been below average at putting up runs this season. They currently rank 18th with just 4.23 per game. As a result, I trust Canning to get us three outs here.
The bottom of the inning will feature a pitcher looking to win a strikeout title. MacKenzie Gore has already posted 108 strikeouts this year while throwing just 75.1 innings. That figure is good enough to put him second in all of MLB. While the Mets are a formidable squad at the plate, they have not been nearly as good in the early parts of the game. On the year, they are below average at scoring in the first inning. They currently rank 16th with 0.48 per game in the first frame.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 10: No (-130)
New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals 106p1o
First Pitch – 7:40 pm EST
Kauffman Stadium – Kansas City, MO
Broadcast – TBS
Any NRFI play with the Yankees in it is certainly a sweat. They are one of the toughest offenses in the league and are solid at the top of the order. However, I’m willing to roll the dice as nobody has been scoring on Noah Cameron. Since he’s been called up, he’s logged five starts. In those five starts, he’s never failed to post at least 6.0 innings. Despite all that time on the hill, he has only allowed three total earned runs. That brings him into Tuesday’s action with a 0.85 ERA. If someone is going to surprise the Yankees with some early blank innings, I like the chances that it’s him.
To close out this NRFI, we have one of the leading favorites for the AL Cy Young. Since coming over from Atlanta, Max Fried has been nothing short of sensational for the Bronx Bombers. He has a 1.78 ERA coming into this one with 77 strikeouts in 81.0 innings. As if he needed any help, we’ll face a very poor offense in Kansas City. They rank 22nd in first inning run scoring with just 0.39 per game. They are worse across the entire game where they rank 27th in the majors (3.42 per game)
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 10: No (-120)
